چکیده

Objctive: The present study, investigates the analgesic effects and complications of intra-articular neostigmine, tramadol, tenoxicam and bupivacaine on postoperative pain in patients undergoing day case knee arthroscopy. Subjects: Group 1 received 0.5 mg neostigmine, Group 2 received 100 mg tramadol, Group 3 received 20 mg tenoxicam, Group 4 received 20 ml 0.5% bupivacaine (control) in 20 ml normal saline intra-articularly at the end of the surgery. All patients had the same anaesthetic technique. Patients were observed in the recovery room with respect to pain scores, haemodynamic changes and postoperative analgesia at 1, 2 and 4 h postoperatively. Analgesic therapy in the recovery room was managed with 25 mg bolus doses of meperidine when the patients had visual analosue scale (VAS) scores higher than three points. The patients were discharged from hospital with a prescription for diclofenac 75 mg to be used as required. They were asked to complete their pain measures at 24 h and record their analgesic consumption. Results: There were no significant differences among the study groups regarding pain scores, haemodynamic changes, the first analgesic requirement time and complications. All patients in our study had adequate postoperative analgesia without any severe complication. Conclusion: Intra-articular administration of neostigmine, tramadol, tenoxicam or bupivacaine is a simple and effective postoperative analgesic technique after outpatient arthroscopic knee procedures. # 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. The Analgesic Effects of Morphine and Tramadol Added to Intra-articular Levobupivacaine-Tenoxicam Combination for Arthroscopic Knee Surgery on Postoperative Pain; a Randomized Clinical Trial

BACKGROUND Arthroscopic knee surgery is commonly performed as an outpatient procedure and is often associated with postoperative pain. OBJECTIVES We aimed to compare the effects of intra-articular levobupivacaine-tenoxicam-tramadol and levobupivacaine-tenoxicam-morphine combinations on postoperative pain in patients undergoing elective arthroscopic knee surgery. MATERIALS AND METHODS A tota...

Evaluation of intra-articular injection of bupivacaine in combination with morphine, methylprednisolone, or alone on pain after knee arthroscopy

Background and Aims: Knee arthroscopy is used to diagnose and treat intra-articular lesions. The control of acute pain after arthroscopy requires the use of a method with the least side effects and most efficacies. This study aimed to compare the sedative effect of bupivacaine in combination with morphine, methylprednisolone, or alone in knee arthroscopy after intra-articular injection. Materi...

Analgesia after day-case knee arthroscopy: double-blind study of intra-articular tenoxicam, intra-articular bupivacaine and placebo.

Arthroscopy of the knee is performed regularly on a day-case basis. Intra-articular bupivacaine produces transient analgesia and reports of analgesia using intra-articular morphine have produced conflicting results. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs given systemically can provide effective analgesia for this procedure. In this study we attempted to determine if intra-articular tenoxicam pro...

The comparison effects of intra-articular injection of different opioids on postoperative pain relieve after arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction: A randomized clinical trial study*

BACKGROUND Pain after knee surgery, if not relieved, it would lead to a more severe and prolonged pain that can delay the patients recovery and rehabilitation. The effect of pain relief by some drugs after intra-articular injection has been shown. This study compared the effect of intra-articular injection of opioids (morphine, pethidine, methadone, and tramadol) on postoperative relieving pain...
